The pile is wool and there are between 40 to 105 Turkish knots per square inch. Afshars knotted in the villages are done on vertical looms where both the warp and weft are in cotton. In this case, the knot is Persian and the density ranges between 40 and 100 knots per square inch. In common with most other nomadic groups, the Afshar make few large items; generally, the most frequently encountered items are of dozar and zaromin size (8’ x 5’/6’ and 6’ x 4’).
