Unlike other woodpecker door knockers, this one knocks with its tail resulting in a lovely resonating sound. It has a specially modified bracket that ensures the beak does not touch the door (no matter how hard you knock!) It has intricate feathered detailing, feels smooth to touch and fits in the hand for a perfect door-knocking experience. This woodpecker door knocker brings a touch of the countryside to any front door. This door knocker is handcrafted so there may be some subtle variations from the images. Each piece is truly unique and engraved with the maker's trademark. Fitted using an easy surface mounted fixing, there are no visible screws on either side of the door. This door knocker is suitable for wood doors as well as solid core composite doors and all screws and fittings are supplied. Patinated using a chemical-free process, it has a unique ‘vintage’ appearance. A clear protective sealant is added that locks in the colour and also gives protection against acid rain and salt air. It can be wiped with a soft cloth periodically. Warm soapy water and a soft brush (toothbrush) can be used to remove any stubborn dirt.
